Full resolution preview not working since upgrade to 6.5

Make sure your Preview Cache folder (inside the QuarkXPress folder) has both read and write permissions set (in Get Info).

FREE AppleScripts for QuarkXPress

I believe that the export/import could be done via scripting, but I've never tried it. For that matter, I could have done that manually after making my other changes (and may very well have done so; I don't remember at this point).

Leader Tabs not showing up

The leader character(s) need to be defined in the tab stop that's at the right-hand side of where you want the leaders. (This is hard to describe.) So if you have: Chapter name . . . . . . . . . 123 the tab stop with the leaders will generally be a right-aligned tab positioned just before the "123" ...

Deleting runaround on tables

Just to be clear, are you trying to get 0 point runaround on all sides or None runaround on the whole table? The former can be done by selecting the table with the item tool and modifying the four values; the latter does not appear to be possible, as an Item runaround seems to be hardwired into tabl...

making tables, centering text

The centering option that you invoked has to do with vertical centering. To center text horizontally in the columns you just need to center the text as you normally would, from the Measurements palette, the keyboard, or with a style sheet.

Search and replace text

This may not be the most efficient approach, but I just looked through some old scripts and found this snippet: set aEnspace to ASCII character 202 -- en space try set contents of (every text whose contents is ("1." & " ")) to ("1." & aEnspace) end try I found another script that had the lines: tell...

FREE AppleScripts for QuarkXPress

Actually, XPress' Find/Change will not let you replace spaces with nonbreaking spaces of any kind, even though you can search and replace regular punctuation, flex, and en spaces just fine. Had I been doing this particular job in my usual manner, I definitely would have used XPress Tags to get my no...

Way to automate chapter headers?

I think it's well worth the price. I've been using (and upgrading) it from XPress 3.x through 6.x and have generated tens of thousands of running heads with it. You definitely need to read the docs, but I suspect that you're going to want to take the styles-based approach: Click in the running head ...

Way to automate chapter headers?

I use Headers XTn to do what you're describing. Here's the page describing it at The Power XChange:

Vertical Justification

There's an XTension for both Mac and Windows called ProVJ that increases the usefulness of XPress' built-in vertical justification feature. It's available at http://www.durrant.co.uk/
