Quark 10 Very, Very Slow on Mac Pro...

agreed, do yourself a favour and drop Quark. As soon as the Q10 problems started to arise I made my decision on the spot. Signed up for Adobe CC (the cost is a niggle) and moved my entire studio over to ID and have not looked back. It's taken a while to get used to a new way of working but it's surp...

Quark 10 Very, Very Slow on Mac Pro...

I too gave up a month ago, Quark 10 gave me the perfect excuse to move over to ID. I've used Quark for over 15 years and the time is now right to move on. It has served me well but I wish I had made the switch years ago. I had even bought 3 copies of Q9 with free Q10 upgrade, these are never even go...

Quark 10 Very, Very Slow on Mac Pro...

Sorry Quark but I'm afraid it's time to say goodbye. You've served me well for over 10 years, but this v10 shambles has finally pushed me over to InDesign. Each year I consider making the switch but our huge archive has prevented me going through the headache of converting old files. Unfortunately y...

QuarkXpress 10 on Mac Very nice!

Hi All, I just wanted to interrupt this tirade which almost stopped me from installing Quark 10. However since i purchased it quite a while ago, I decided to see for myself if all the critic is true. I'm glad to say that so far everything works great. Not much slow down in scrolling (if any I corre...

Q9 'Open' and 'Save' dialogue box size keeps resetting

In Q9 the open and save box keeps resetting to the default small size each time. In Q8 it would remember my resized box. I like to enlarge the box so I can see my entire list of sidebar folders without scrolling. Doesn't sound like much but a real pain having to expand it each time. Not sure if this...

File will Export to PDF in Q8 but NOT Q9

Okay I've fixed the problem. The offending item seems to be a text box that is sitting outside the document page but just slightly into the pasteboard, it's only a template label so serves no purpose at output stage. Deleting the box or moving it outside the bleed area fixes the problem. I've been u...

Quark 9.5 exporting to PDF with EPS images resulting in colo

Is there a particular need to use the Photoshop EPS format. I always steer clear of them unless there's an absolute reason to use it. In Version 10 they are slower to load and save spinning beach ball slow. i only use them as there is the option to preserve text as 'vector' allowing for crisper out...

File will Export to PDF in Q8 but NOT Q9

Your first post says you are printing to a postscript file and distilling. From the file menu, under the Export sub-menu, one can choose to export to PDF. That is a different process than printing to a PS time and distilling. I was asking if using the export to PDF produces a PDF file out of versio...

File will Export to PDF in Q8 but NOT Q9

Sorry not sure what you mean. I can export ok from 8 but in 9 will not export unless I copy all elements into a new quark doc.
