But what if you had hundreds of pages and there were only a few words in about half of the paragraphs throughout. Wouldn't you want to be able to style the paragraphs but keep the italics and use the font foundry italics not the applied styles "i" ?

Re: ADs answer: In version 9 when selecting a style sheet you can right click on the style sheet name and select the option "Apply style sheet and Retain Local type style", that will reset all the other attributes except Bold, Italics, Underline etc. I hope thats what you are looking for... Using Quark 8 - Mac OS 10.6.8 Is there a way to keep the bold and italic formatting when importing text and selecting paragraph styles? Working on a book with about one italicized word per paragraph. Please tell me there's a way to format the text using paragraph styles and not loose all the italics...
