Re: Find/change won't find "/X"

I figured it out. I process Word files into XPressTags for importing, and my macro inserts a discretionary line break after slashes. This messes up many of the style tags that the editor includes, so those were cleaned up, including removing those discretionary line breaks (<\d>). The ones that did ...

Re: Replacing font in usage dialog doesn't completely work

The double click on the Plain button works -- many thanks!

Find/change won't find "/X"

Find/change will find a slash (/), a letter followed by a slash (X/), but not a letter following a slash (/X), let alone X/X.

Furthermore, it finds "<BL>" and "</BL>" and "<FT>" but not "<FN/FT>" or "<TT>".

Replacing font in usage dialog doesn't completely work

QuarkXPress 2016 (12.0) on Mac El Capitan (10.11.5) —
F13: Fonts usage
Highlight, eg, Minion Pro «Bold»
Click Replace.
Change to Minion Pro Bold (Plain)
Font is now Minion Pro Bold «Bold»

— Although the nominal font was successfully changed, the face change did not happen.

Re: Document Converter won't open file

I got the same error message when I set "QXD" documents to open in the Document Converter and then double-clicked one.

No problem when clicking "Convert File(s)" in the Document Converter and selecting it.

Re: I give up. "Bad file format" is now the norm.

I sent sample files, but am still awaiting a response. Meanwhile, I'm working in Indesign and no longer enjoy the typesetting and composition of books. Please bring Quark back to me!

Re: I give up. "Bad file format" is now the norm.

Thank you for the suggestions. I should have stated that I do indeed have 11.2.0.1 on Mac El Capitan. I cleaned the Quark image cache, as well as the font cache via FontExplorer X Pro. That changed nothing. I had turned on autosave and autobackup because of the frequent “bad file format” results. I ...

I give up. "Bad file format" is now the norm.

I have been using QuarkXPress for some 25 years now, always preferring it as a professional typesetter’s page layout program. And I have been very satisfied with QuarkXPress 2015’s stability and power. So it makes me sick (almost literally, considering the days of work I’ve lost – for a freelancer, ...
