Re: where to get installer for 9.5

Unfortunately it doesn't work. I found another thread that indicates the Quark installers don't recognize anything past OS X 10.9, since they read10.10 as 10.1 and think the system is too old. I'm not sure what my next option is. If I should uninstall El Capitan and go all the way back to 10.9 (what...

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

instant crash on moving any box

I've been working in Quark 9.5 on OS X El Capitan for a while without issue, but suddenly it started crashing every time I try to move a box with any tool, instantly, without fail... making the program unusable. I tried deleting preferences, but (unless I just deleted the wrong Quark plist?) it didn...

where to get installer for 9.5

I'm trying to fix an unsolvable issue by simply reinstalling the most recent upgrade for Quark 9.5, but I can't find any way to get it any more. I thought I had a dmg saved, but it says I need to have OS X Mountain Lion to run it, and I'm on El Capitan. I simply can't navigate through the endless de...

Re: Crashes when moving gradient boxes

Seems to be an old topic, but as our office is still on Quark 9.5.4 maybe someone found an answer. I've had this same problem on multiple computers through multiple versions of Quark. It's random, so I can'tfigure out any pattern at all. Usually for me it crashes as soon as I apply a gradient to a b...

Re: Option drag duplicate destroys object hierarchy

Right, I wasn't speaking for everyone. Our company has great working tools that do everything we need for our situation. Others may want or need the later additions and improvements, and want still more. I always wished you could just buy features or "tools" instead of upgrades (and I always liked Q...

Re: Option drag duplicate destroys object hierarchy

No need to be defensive, I wasn't implying anything about Quark at all. The whole computer industry is built around the profit model of ever-increasing obsolescence. In the old days you bought your tools once and used them until they wore out. My X-Acto knife still works exactly the way it did 40 ye...

Re: Option drag duplicate destroys object hierarchy

Yup, that's how they force customers to pointlessly spend tens of thousands of dollars. If this is the only side-effect we'll continue to live with it. Upgrading Quark means upgrading the OS, which means upgrading all our other software, which means "upgrading" Adobe to monthly subscriptions for all...

Re: Option drag duplicate destroys object hierarchy

Should be OK. We're all on Yosemite. (Staying competitive in print publication by not spending tens of thousands of dollars in upgrades that do literally nothing towards advancing our business needs, but I'm not here to justify that.) Is there a conflict between Quark 9.X and Yosemite that might cau...

Re: QUARKXPRESS 10.5 convert Form into vector graphic

If the image you refer to was created as a vector object in Quark, then saving as PDF or EPS should preserve the vector information when re-opened in Illustrator. If the object or image is a raster you'd need to outline it with the pen tool. I don't believe Quark has any option for converting raster...
