Re: Quark 10: converting black 1-bit images to CMYK in PDF

No worries. Hmm. Without going backwards to an earlier revision, I cannot test. I did read through the Q10 PDF for known and resolved issues. There are 11 issues with 1-bit images that were resolved throughout 10's revisions. But I don't think their descriptions fit the issues your clients are havin...

Re: Quark 10: converting black 1-bit images to CMYK in PDF

Hi Iain, I do have 10 installed on one computer and also could not replicate the issue, but with my own files. Just a question regarding my own confusion. If it is a 1-bit image, why color it at all in Q if the goal is to not have it separate to a CMYK mix versus 100% K? In any case, the only way I ...

Re: Advantage & Q 2018/2019

One would think the current advertising email would go to persons not owning a license for 2018. At least until 2019 ships and then be, well, a different ad. And/or target a different email to current 2018 owners. I personally don't find them offensive to receive. As regards Affinity Publisher, ther...

Re: Gradient in editable text

Hi Jiri,

It is not possible as far as I know/remember. I'm not at a computer right now so once I'm back to it I can take a look and if it is possible I'll update the thread.

Re: Snap 2007 Quark 9.5.1

Hi Boats, I would use the US Newsprint (SNAP 2007) profile. The main reason is that t is the one I've downloaded from ECI in the (now distant) past. The other one (SNAP 2007) could be the same profile, just named differently. You need to create both a Color Setup (Edit menu | Color Setups > | Output...

One can also create a text box, right-click and use the Insert Filler Text.

Re: I need some help exporting to JPEG

It is the font that is faulty. I get the same behavior in a couple different applications I tried. The good news is that the font is fixable. This screen shot is from a PDF after I fixed the font: capture-002622.png If this font family is going to be used regularly, send me a private message with yo...

Re: I need some help exporting to JPEG

Converting to boxes means that the font is not a "live" font anymore--i.e., one that the text can be changed as text. The outline shape of the font has been converted to curves. One should only do it on a copy of the document as it is not reversible. Seeing how it is such an old font--and not every ...

Re: I need some help exporting to JPEG

Hi John,

Judging from the age of the font, I would surmise something is corrupt in the font.

From which on-line place did you obtain the font?
Did you convert to curves (called boxes in Q)?

I can look inside the font itself and see if something is up.

Re: I need some help exporting to JPEG

If that link is what a printing company sent you, I would run away from them. I'm serious. To give the company itself the benefit of the doubt, it could have been a completely clueless individual giving out that link. But no, and I mean no, self-respecting print establishment would give that link to...
