Re: As IS what does it mean

Just to answer the initial question…unless anything has changed since version 8.x, AsIs means "process everything as it is, don't change anything". So, if it's RGB on import, exporting using AsIs means it exports as RGB. Nothing is changed. That is only partially correct - things that change for RG...

Re: The new, fast QuarkXPress 10.2 has been released

[*] Important output quality improvements: QuarkXPress now outputs all Ghent Workgroup Output Tests v4 correctly. Hello Matthias, I can confirm that Quark XPress 10.2's output (and import) of PDFs is vastly improved over previous 10.x versions. But some things do not work as "advertised": Ghent Wor...

Quark 10 importing a CMYK PDF as RGB

I do not see the problem. If you know there is only CMYK in your PDF, that is fine. But you cannot trust the color space that Quark displays for placed files that could contain more than 1 color space. You have to check color space(s) of these outside of Quark (like in Acrobat Pro) anyways, so what ...

Quark 10 importing a CMYK PDF as RGB

A PDF may contain many different color spaces at once, and as such a PDF does not have a "single color space" that Quark could display. Consider a PDF with RGB images, CMYK vector art and several spot colors whose alternate color space is Lab. In addition, there are a lot of transparent objects and ...

CMYK colours changing in QXP 10

The Graphics Engine knows all about the profiles attached to images in a PDF. Well, that is only 75% true. The Graphics Engine ignores rendering intents attached to images in a PDF. Thanks for the detailed explanation of profile handling in QXP. So at the moment (and in my opinion the foreseeable f...

Can Quark "export" transparency when using Distiller?

You will have to edit your distiller joboptions manually to allow transparency to work.
Open your .joboptions in a text editor and search for the line that contains

/Allow Transparency false

Change that false to true, save the joboptions file, restart distiller and it will work.

QuarkXPress 10.1.0.1 released

BTW, 10.1.0.1 ignores rendering intent in placed PDF files and always converts color according to what is defined in color setup/source (if a conversion is needed).

QuarkXPress 10.1.0.1 released

I tried scrolling / exporting as PDF on Windows 7 / 8.1 and Mac OS 10.9.2. QuarkXPress 10.1.0.1 did not crash. It is slow to scroll on Windows, but works fine on Mac OS. Could you please try after deleting the old image cache from Library\Caches\com.quark.xenon.cache.*** ? I deleted the image cache...

QuarkXPress 10.1.0.1 released

This is getting ridiculous. I updated to 10.1.0.1; when I open a document created in 10.1 and scroll to the bottom of a page, then scroll upward again, Quark slows to a crawl and then crashes. Rebuilding that document from scratch in 10.1.0.1 and it does not crash on scrolling. Test documents and cr...
