Re: Bullet Points and Numbering and Hanging Characters

There isn't an "increment by" type of field, so I would say no, this isn't possible. Sorry! Thanks for trying! It did occur to me that if one could add to the many numbering options presented when defining a custom style, so that they included the set of all even numbers (or whatever), then it woul...

Re: Bullet Points and Numbering and Hanging Characters

Is it possible to change the numbering so that it skips numbers?

Examples
2,4,6,8,10
0,5,10,15

And so on...

:o That works! I'm so grateful. :D Now I understand why the advice on some webpages was just to hit the enter key...

Shift+Enter produces a soft return on my system. I use that shortcut quite often.

Re: Centered Tabs: Difficulty Establishing Default Layout

It seems like a stupid question, but how does one make page-break? I've been googling it and googling it. I tend to link boxes or use automatic text boxes, so my text flows over quite a few pages.

Re: Conditional Styles

Do remember--and this has caught me out before--to use character styles for the second line else the whole paragraph which includes the first line will change because of the soft return. That was it. Problem solved! I use styles so little that I overlooked the distinction between character styles a...

Re: Decimal Tabs

Isn't that because aligning on a decimal (point) precludes aligning on another character?

Re: Centered Tabs: Difficulty Establishing Default Layout

Thanks! That helps with the style. I guess that I was thinking of tabs in terms of setting up the whole document, as one does with margins/guides. But the main issue that I'd like to try to solve is text's not centering around tabs when other tab-sites are in close proximity. Unless I can do that, I...

Re: Conditional Styles

So if one desires to format a part of a paragraph differently than the base paragraph style, one has to use a character style to do so. That is most likely where I went wrong. I understood the rest of the syntax. The first part, the first line of the conditional style I show doesn't really do anyth...

Re: Conditional Styles

^ Thanks! Yeah, if need be, I'll definitely post a document. Unfortunately, I haven't yet had access to my home computer for long enough to make one. Do remember--and this has caught me out before--to use character styles for the second line else the whole paragraph which includes the first line wil...

Centered Tabs: Difficulty Establishing Default Layout

To maximize potential points about which I might center words/phrases in the course of a given document, I created tabs at 0.25" intervals. At first, words that I tabbed didn't seem to be centering at all: they behaved like default, left-aligned tabs of 0.5". Eventually, I realized that the lengths ...
