Re: Returning to XPress

UtahLlama, this is of course always possible, but Erik Youngren is right: it is a pity that this function no longer exists. For some works (typically: execution jobs and not creation), it was very useful and even essential that the update of the graphics does not automatically concern all instances....

Re: Font not available

A new version of the font:
Rateau.zip
(15.95 KiB) Downloaded 119 times

It is an OTF-PS font, with the glyphs for the forms regulary coded in the reserved area (UniE000 to UniE007).
To use them with the same keys as the original, kindly activate the Stylistic Set 1.

Re: Importing Text and Changing Font Loses Italics, Bold

Additionaly, the window of "export font" of the PDF-generate options doesn't list all the fonts and faces used int he document! But all are exported. If you used the Verlag Book, Book-Ital and Bold, it's display Verlag Extra-Light and Book, and ignore the Book-Ital! (But it exports the Verlag Book,...

Re: Importing Text and Changing Font Loses Italics, Bold

I can't (confidentiality of the work, sorry...). But play in QXP with any font which had a semi-complex structure (bold, semi-bold, black, etc.), put the Bold attribute on the roman font: it's not the *linked* face which is used by QXP (but, by example, the Black face), then remove the Bold attribut...

Re: Importing Text and Changing Font Loses Italics, Bold

In fact, XPress 2018 seems unable to correctly understand the links between the typographic styles when a font had more of four styles (the classic Roman, Bold, Italic and Bold-Italic). The issues occur when XPress import of a Word file and when XP 2018 read an ancient XP file (QXP 2017, by example)...

Re: XPress 2018 does not show pantone color

I confirm: just save yours files in PSD format to have the Pantone tones in QXP.

Re: QuarkXPress 2018 Preferences

Yes, importing preferences becomes an indispensable tool ... and probably not very long or difficult to program for Quark engineers. Note that we can export the color profiles, then import them into the new version of the software: the function exists (I have not tested it). On the other hand, you c...

Re: Typographics styles

Dear Sirish, Thank you for your long answer, but I understood all that (and in my example, the problem is not about "false" bold and italic). I just wanted to point out a malfunction with the complex family fonts, due to either a bug or a design problem. But you tell me it's a normal feature: sincer...

Typographics styles

I am bothered by the new management of typographic styles ... The idea seems excellent to me, but badly applied when a font has more than the four classic styles (roman, bold, italic, bold-italic). The problem seems to arise only in this case of "complex" fonts. 1) Take a piece of text composed in A...
