QLA 3.x and DNS (was QLA 3.11 and 3.3 suddenly not working)

In reflection we had 2 problems, which at first didn't seem related, but in hindsight must have been somehow. 1. Quark clients suddenly could not locate the QLA Server, although the server was operational and the FM Pro Server also on that machine continued to operate as per normal. 2. Apple Remote ...

QLA 3.x and DNS (was QLA 3.11 and 3.3 suddenly not working)

It all started about 5pm when someone reported their version of QXP6.5 was reporting that License Server not available. Indeed that was the message on screen. I immediately checked it was alive and kicking using ping. It was. So it had crashed for the first time. Upon examination - running OSX10.2.8...

Problem with adding licenses

I wonder if someone can help me with a problem adding licenses on the qlaweb site. In the Product Information > Product Serial Numbers I have entered in two Passport 6.x licenses, separated by a ';', but when I submit this change it refreshes the page showing the new licenses as 'Product Serial Numb...

Notes about QLA

We recently moved to QXP6.5 for production. A few niggling problems exist so we anticipate that some users might need to switch back to 5 to do the odd print job. On the first day of the move I think we over-stepped the limit of licenses cos someone could not access printers all of a sudden. Asking ...

Classic... help!!!

It falls over all the time ... well our Classic-based 5 does. I don't know what OS X version you are running, but if OS X 10.2.x I would first boot in to single user mode (hold down Apple+s on restart) and type 'fsck -y' (no quotes). If problems are reported, reenter the command until the disk is re...

QXP 6.5 and the need for Admin rights in OSX 10.3.x

Quark Permissions I manage 30 Quark users and have found that the installation XPress 6.x does not follow that of all other apps we use on OS X. ie. that you can configure the app so that non-admin users can use the application, but are unable to remove the application folder or its contents. You c...

Can open file but gives error in Try loop

Robert Your script works for me too, but I need to traverse a folder (as there are 1000s of files to process), so the 'file' variable is set differently - which i think has been the whole problem all along. I havent finished the traversing bit yet, but have some scripts to borrow that from - was wor...

Can open file but gives error in Try loop

Thanks for your help that worked.

I find AppleScript more frustrating than other prog langs - it's a bit too flexible at time and ambiguous in otheres.

Cheers
