Quark, I break with thee

I use ID and Quark. ID exclusively for in-house creation and Q for files I take in from time to time. I probably would have never tried ID if Q didn't screw me by releasing Q5 and making me pay for their garbage. Their utter contempt for their customers is a textbook example of how not to treat peop...

Design Contest!!!

Michel: Valid complaint about QX bashers not saying what's better in ID. Here goes: Better in ID: typography-ID has a far better type engine. No more -3 kerning to get text to read smoothly. No more text or picture boxes. You can place an image, delete the image and start typing! Transparency, feathe...

Design Contest!!!

Some good points by several people. I should have phrased my post better or at least reviewed it! I never purchased QX5 and only recently (6/05) purchased QX6 to use for a new client. I was happy with QX up to 4. The only alternative was PM which didn't cut it compared to QX. Then 5 came out and fri...

Design Contest!!!

http://www.creativepro.com/story/feature/23415.html CreativePro article. Michel: I am PISSED that I spent so much money on a crappy product. This is what I do to feed my family. Some of my freelancer friends who purchased 5 actually cried when they found out what a horrific upgrade it was. Quark HAD...

Design Contest!!!

Michel: I was a QX user for over 10 years. I still use it on occasion. The combo of horrendous customer services, exorbitant upgrade fees for mediocre "new" features, and that unusable piece of crap called QX5 made me give ID a shot. It proved to be a far better product with a more cost-effective up...

Quark vs InDesign. Which give you less trouble?

Previews still stink. I paid for the product, let me install it and get to work. I have to go search for downloads? Have printing problems? I had to reformat my HD recently and had to contact Quark with not only my QX6 SN but my QX4. I understand theft is a problem but there must be a better way for...

Quark vs InDesign. Which give you less trouble?

I didn't mean a reply in 3 days though in the adobe forums I probably would have a reply well within three days. Look at the threads. There are plenty of them with no replies at all or one or two. I've posted are checked posts similar to mine and not seen a response. Is it a reflection of the app? T...

Quark vs InDesign. Which give you less trouble?

I use both and InDesign is light years ahead. Posting here about a problem rarely gets answered. Hell, there wasn't even a forum to come to for months. I usually post and receive a response to QX questions quicker on the Adobe boards. So much for biased InDesign users. Quark did itself in by 1) poor...

To Quark or not to Quark?

Some head-to-head comparisons by real expert users in the major media: CreativePro.com MacWorld Ars Technica Pfeiffer Report I switched over to ID myself and will never go back to QX for in-house design. We still get the occasional QX files from outside vendors so I have 6 which is QX4 ported to X a...

Printing darker thanit should be.

My canon was printing fine. I remember having trouble back in October when I first got it but eventually I got it straightened out. Unfortunately, I had to reformat the HD and I'm back to dark printouts. Still trying to figure it out.
