Need honest opinions

We are a small department, totally Mac run and supported. We produce a large (just under 1000) page catalog every year, along with smaller pieces running anywhere from 48 pages on up. All are paginated in two-page spreads and have plenty of color and image coverage. We also use the most recent versi...

Changing Line Color

In 6.5, I need to change the color of numerous .5pt. lines. Is there a way to change them all at once without having to select them all to make the change? I'm wanting to change them from default black to another color. There may be from 3-15 on any single page. Wish there was a select all same colo...

You've got us, now keep us!

Ah, yes, thank you for noticing my error. Yes, indeed, my credibility is now completely gone over a small error. And, shudder- I am an english major with a journalism minor. I'm sure none of the world's greatest authors ever did that. That's it. I'm packing my bags and leaving as I now have no reaso...

You've got us, now keep us!

Loyalty sometimes rests in the fact that as a catalog designer, I cannot take my Quark files and "seamlessly integrate" them into InDesign. Much like trying to convert to PC from Mac- it ain't gonna happen without a lot of hard work and swearing. Yes, InDesign is so Pagemaker heavy that I can't stan...

You've got us, now keep us!

I just finished reading an article on how well Quark's sales are doing over InDesign and the search for a new CEO. A loyal Quark user since the beginning of time, I'm amazed that it continues to sell so well. Never before have I entertained the idea of switching to that "other page layout program" w...

Layer Problem Revisited

Working in a two page spread, I select all the items I want to include, copy them and paste in place in a new layer. Then the new layer picks up runaround from images in the first layer. I then have to go back in and adjust the runaround on the original layer so that it fixes the issues on the first...

Layer issues

A good idea, but . . .

We are trying to get away from our multiple-document ways.

And if you're thinking we could just do a document within a document, that would put us under such scrutiny from higher-ups than I care to think about! :?

Layer issues

What I am doing is changing "English" spellings to "Canadian" spellings ie. color-colour, catalog-catalogue. So, in every instance of these certain words, ALL must change throughout the document. I'm wanting one version (layer) to be English, the other version (layer) to have the changed spellings. ...

Layer issues

I am a catalog designer who produces two identical catalogs with the exception of some spellings and pricings. The only changes occur on the black plate, no other colors can move at all. I'm wanting to use the layer function to be able to combine these two publications into one document. However, wh...

Quark file type not being recognized with new G5

If you are using SMB to connect to your network, this is more than likely the issue. SMB forces your Mac to function in a "PC-type" environment. More than likely you would have the same issues with multiple applications. The easy solution is to connect to the network with either AppleTalk or TCP/IP....
