imposition with quark

I used InPosition several years ago, sending files to a Delta RIP for film output, worked just ok. I hated Preps, too many steps, and hard to work with. I started using a SignaStation (Version 8) about 18 months ago. I currently use SignaStation 9.0 for CTP to a ProSetter. I work 98% of the time wit...

Quark vs InDesign. Which give you less trouble?

Being a "traditional" typesetter I started off with Pagemaker (Painmaker, Pagefaker) 1.0 - but quickly moved to Quark in the early 90's. When InDesign was first introduced I worked at a service bureau - there were eight of us in the pre-press department and none could get any job produced from it - ...

RGB images automatically converted to CMYK in Quark 6.5?

It's not Quark that changes your images. If your images are printing grayscale through a RIP, it is the RIP's interpretation of the image that is causing it to be grayscale. This can be an issue if the image is saved as a jpg instead of a tif or eps, or if LZW compression is used. For example. . .us...

PLEASE HELP ME I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO!!!

I just recently purchased a HP cp1700d - without the postscript option, and have had no problems as I use Distiller, make a pdf and print from that. I'm currently set up using OS9 - Quark 4.1, Distiller 5.0. The only issue I have is getting the pages to center. I print a 17 x 11 newsletter, set up 8...

Printing to inkjet--no color

Do you have the correct ppd installed for the inkjet printer? If so and you have that selected in the print setup, then make sure that your settings in your print options box are: Under the "Output" Tab Composite: CMYK Halftoning: Conventional Under the "Options" Tab Output: Normal Data: Binary OPI:...

Quark 6.1 won't print TIFF file

It's probably not an issue with your images, but rather the settings in the print layout box when you print, check these: Under the "Options" tab: in the "Pictures" section: Output: Normal (do not use Rough or Lo-Res - if these are used the image may not print) OPI: Include Image (make sure it's not...

Possibl to save .qxd as .bmp in 3.32?

You cannot save Quark docs as .bmp files. Your best choice is to make a .pdf. By doing this anyone can obtain Acrobat Reader at no charge and view your files. The only other alternative is to save as an .eps - which has issues of its own with fonts and then the ability of others having software to b...

Color Separations

I do not have access to a postscript printer at home, so to make color seps for proofing purposes I will make a color separated pdf. Works great for proofing your colors. Note: If you need to separate for Pantone colors in Quark 6.0 - be sure to indicate "Device N" in your colors tab.
