Unable to render to pdf

Hi Ian,

Unfortunately, there is no such feature for the Server product. I know there are several for the QuarkXPress itself. I hope to have you a sample script very soon.

regards,
Paul

Unable to render to pdf

Ian,

If I were to create a sample java script which you could load into the QuarkXPress Server Manager scripting environment could you take it from there?

Obviously, you would need to know some amount of java script.

regards,
Paul

Unable to render to pdf

Hi Ian, We don't have standard batch processing out of the box but we do have a scripting environment in the QuarkXPress Server Manager that can accomplish the task. Can you provide me some more details on the typical batch scenario you are trying to accomplish. thanks, Paul Brown, Product Manager

Unable to render to pdf

BTW...the "document pool" is just a directory on your local or mounted drive that the Server knows where to look for documents. No action takes place upon putting file into the document pool only when they are called by Server. It is also the first location that Server will look if pictures are miss...

Unable to render to pdf

Hi Ian,

I suspect that document you are downloading is actually a PDF. Try to go into Reader or Acrobat and open the file. I have seen this in the past with certain browsers under certain conditions. I'll look into this further and get back to you.

PDF size comparison

Hi Ian, That is still a massive size discrepancy. Have you tried actually exporting the Output Style from QuarkXPress and loading it into Server? I'm not sure it would yield any different results but it's worth a shot. It does happen on occasion that we ship with a different version of our PDF libra...

Missing image log

Hi Ian, There absolutely should be an entry in the error logs indicating that a picture was missing/modified. There are several levels of logging that you can choose from and they are available in the "Logging" tab in the Server console. You'll want to choose to "Log Document Problems" which is off ...

Quark Server documentation

Hi Ian, If you have the Server installed you should be able to find the documentation in the same folder as the QuarkXPress Server application. That is ...Quark\QuarkXPress Server 7.2\QuarkXPress Server\Documents You'll probably want to look at the Web Integration Guide first and this will be either...

PDF Direct, Crop box problem

Hi Craig and Hakan,

Yes, this problem was fixed in QuarkXPress but still happens in Server. It is on our list of defects to be fixed and will be in the next version.
