Hello Klaus,
It is a possibility that the system fonts or the permissions for the user are corrupt.
Have you tried contacting Apple to help you repair the system fonts and permissions for the user account?

Hello Klaus,
Please install QuarkXPress on some other machine and then check.
If it works, please copy the installed QuarkXPress 9 application folder from the working machineto the problem user account and then see if it works.

Are you able to launch QuarkXPress on any other machine?
If yes, can you try to copy the entire QuarkXPress 9 applications folder to this machine's problematic user account and then see the results.

Please try to repair the permissions on the user account by going to Mac HDD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Launch Disk Utility and choose Hard Drive
Click on Verify Disk Permissions and once the verification is complete, choose Repair Disk permissions.

Please restart the machine in safe mode by keeping the shift key pressed and then check if it works in normal mode.
