Where did my "keep document settings" option go?

[strong]billb:[/strong] Does Indesign make a plug-in to accept Quark docs?

InDesign will convert docs saved in v3 and v4 formats, but not v5 or 6. According to reports, 5 and 6 aren't supported because Quark has built some security into their file format to prevent any conversion.

Security errors importing PDF's

[strong]rzacherl:[/strong]are you aware of the fact that a normal PostScript desktop printer doesn't care at all for any DSC comments Yes. I was speaking of non-PS desktop devices, and not in the in the context of DSC comments. I was thinking of hi-res image data. And in regard to DSC commenting, my...

[img]../../themes/default/images/icon-quote.gif"> [strong]rzacherl:[/strong]I can't see your argument. Adobe InDesign 1.0 (and at least up to 1.51) had severe bugs in the PostScript area. Even Adobe based interpreters were affected but not because of compatibilty issues but because of simple bugs. W...

Security errors importing PDF's

[strong]rzacherl:[/strong]Adobe doesn't care about incompatibility issues with clone interpreters. They would only be in trouble if one of their own interpreters would not be able to interpret this code. But that doesn't happen. I don't think this is true, looking at the history of InDesign since 1....

[strong]dwadson:[/strong]My poiint with the InDesign font encoding, is that even Adobe's applications create the PDF's differently. Why does InDesign embed the fonts like that but Distiller 6 doesn't? Is there a huge benefit to doing it differently? Yes...if you want extended character sets or doubl...

Open Type Syllabic Font Problems in QXP 6.5

If you're using an OpenType font, then it's unicode. XPress only gives you access to the first 256 characters...i.e., the ASCII range. It's not a unicode version issue, it's a unicode incompatibility issue that you're having.

Can we have reassurance Quark?

[strong]Jim Oblak:[/strong]It is beyond reason why Quark wanted to introduce new features (vista & PSD) and new bugs before it cleaned up the core app. I don't think it's beyond reason at all. It's probably because easier to add bells and baubles as XTensions than it is to debug one's complex and ar...

My work is thinking of changing to Indesign!

If you take the time to understand InDesign (i.e., don't use it like XPress, take advantage of its features), then you'll find yourself being able to spend more time being creative, and less time jumping through limiting hoops. My experience...

printing duotones to a desktop printer

From the InDesign CS help file: [quote:2b766326fd]InDesign can rebuild a composite image from DCS 2.0 or 1.0 separations files, if the files were created in Adobe Photoshop. For best results, do not include DCS 1.0 files or DCS 2.0 files created in programs other than Photoshop when you are creating...
