Why does Quark suck so bad?

The conversion is improved in ID CS, but still only for Quark 3 and 4 file formats. As with any kind of translation, it's rarely perfect, but designed to save you time compared to rebuilding the file from scratch. I don't think it's realistic to expect it to perfectly reproduce a complex XPress layo...

QuarkXPress 6.0 or Adobe InDesign CS!?

[strong]Tim OConnor:[/strong]Quark 6 is playing catch-up to Indesign, both are well behind QX4.11 in maket share... Quite true. But what's happening when companies bite the bullet, migrate to OSX, or decide that they need to make a change to keep up with technology? I think what's happening is that ...

QuarkXPress 6.0 or Adobe InDesign CS!?

[quote:8e65b9f9a9]Which application is better depends on which one oyu are better at using. Well...hmmm...a skilled user will be able to produce better work faster with ID. Bloody disgrace

[strong]PC Graphics Report:[/strong]Actually the Adobe user guides are very reasonable ($49) much like Quarks ($45)The Adobe manuals are for all the CS products. So the price diferential for the Suite is still much better. Indeed. And this new Vista XTension is pretty unimpressive when you consider ...

Long Live Quark Xpress!

[strong]Skyline:[/strong]Do you have any specifics? Any first-hand experience? I don't use any of the solutions because I don't work at a newspaper or magazine, but here's what I know: there's a product called K4 that is a workflow system analagous to QPS. It could work well in mags or small newspap...

Long Live Quark Xpress!

[strong]Skyline:[/strong]What InDesign lacks right now is a comprehensive publishing system equal to Quark 4's--for large newspapers and magazines. But I wouldn't bet that Adobe doesn't have something like that in the works. If Quark doesn't wake up, it will be the final nail in its coffin. You are ...

Can Quark 6 convert PageMaker 7 files?

[strong]sweetmead:[/strong]For several years I've heard that Indesign is Adobe's "Quark Killer", yet it doesn't open Quark 6 documents or offer any nuances that would make me give up utilizing Quark. Quark started encrypting its file format with version 5, thereby providing the roadblock for file co...
