Best printing arrangement for Quark 6.1

In the interim, you can always either Export as PDF and print them through your non-PostScript driver to the inkjet or print PS files and double-click them in the Finder and print them through Preview. (Basically the same process, I suppose.) I also sometimes use the PS RIP I bought from HP with my ...

Why is Quark 6.1 so slow making fractions

That's a pretty intense script. I just spent a half hour converting it to make much better fractions, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's faster since it makes half of the changes made in the original script. Quark's version halves the point size and baseline shifts the numerator, halves the size of...

Just learning XPress Tags

As someone mentioned in a message in another thread here, the best way to create XPress Tags for importing is to style some text and export it as XPress Tags. Then you'll see exactly what XPress expects.

Saving opens document???

I just used Sherlock to search for "dejavu" and found (in my user) Library>Preferences>Quark>QuarkXPress 6.0>Dejavu.prf

Note that I haven't tried deleting it; I just looked for it for you.

Import Graphic and Anchor to the Bottom of box not Top

Two XTensions that might help are: Badia's Full Measure XTension, which has a pop-up menu that allows you to manually choose to align a graphic to any side of its box; and Xtags, which lets you define a picture's alignment while importing it into anchored or fixed boxes that it creates when bringing...

Style sheets keyboard equivalent unavailable

It took two different people and a bit of persistence to get this through to me, too. It really is an unfortunate interface problem, and a real eye-opener as to how conditioned we are to visual cues.

Version no longer valid?

When I read your message last night, it had reminded me of an XPress 6.0 "activation" problem I had run into. Over on MacInTouch I read the following, which has helped me (and others) after an Archive & Install (not sure if it's relevant to your situation or not): Just like most people, after instal...

I know the field doesn't become active, but if you click on it you'll probably notice that the style name field becomes deselected. Then just type your keyboard shortcut and it should appear in the Keyboard Equivalent field.

Have you recently run an archive-and-install OS X system update?

Can't Print Postnet Fonts....

Two quick things to try: 1) put the PostNet fonts in the System Folder (even if you're using a font management program); that's helped me with some pesky fonts, and/or 2) try creating a PS file and then double-clicking it in the Finder to let the system open it as a PDF in Preview and see if that pr...
