Re: Kerning old style numerals

I went ahead and tried it, Mike. What displayed, alas, was the lining 19. Check it out:

Re: Kerning old style numerals

Mike, thank you. Something you wrote sent me back into the book I was working on. I searched for an old style "19" pair, then open the Glyphs palette, and scrolled down til I found an old style 9. The lower-right area of palette calls it an "unencoded glyph." Does this mean, as I suspect it does, th...

Re: Kerning old style numerals

Thank you, Mike. I'll tell you the specific pair I'd like to kern (in utopia). I've just finished typesetting a book for which I used the recentish Parkinson Electra. I've created kerning files for it (Edit -> Kerning pairs) over the course of several books, and it looks really good. One pair that l...

Kerning old style numerals

Hello all. One thing I've done daily for 20 years is steadily, book by book, improve the kerning tables of the fonts I use regularly. I'd hoped that a bonus of my migrating to QXP 2016 would be the ability to globally kern old style numerals in OpenType fonts. I don't seem to find that option, thoug...

Re: Icons

I did. Danke.

My mistake had been to look for the "Hide Extension" option in the Quark prefs, rather than in the Save screen itself.

Take care,

Re: Icons

Both problems now fixed (or shall I say: understood, so that each is no longer a "problem").

Apologies, Matthias, and thank you for the assistance—

Re: Icons

Hi again, Matthias. I followed your instructions regarding the doc icon in the finder. They haven't changed the blank doc icon I'm seeing. I do note, however, that the QXP icons work when the file is placed inside a folder on the desktop.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Icons

Matthias, thank you.

If I go to

QuarkXPress > Preferences > Open and Save

I don't find the option you mention.

Please let me know what I'm missing.

Thanks!

Icons

Hello all. Two questions from a longtime (20 years) Quark user, new to QXP 2016. I design and typeset books 24/7. When I save a new project to the desktop of an El Cap iMac, the QuarkXPress 2016 icon doesn't show—instead, it's a generic doc icon. Second question: any way to continue (as of yesterday...
