A5 leaflet output to A4 PDF

Are you asking to scale up the content 141.4% or output page 32-1, 2-31, 30-3, 4-29 etc "printers pairs"? both tasks are easy for a professional printer from an A5 pdf.

PSD Import: What works, what doesn't?

Thanks rcantin. Sometimes you read DCS and PSD and miss the simpler solution Duotone as EPS should work too [:)]

PSD Import: What works, what doesn't?

A different work-around, since you say the duotone is a single channel, is to convert it to greyscale and save it as a tif, then replicate the duotone effect directly in Quark using a multi-ink swatch, and possibly Image Effects.

PSD Import: What works, what doesn't?

DCS will not work if your goal is composite output, Quark (unlike InDesign and Illustrator) can only use this for separated output. I think current advice is not to use Duotone mode but to use Multichannel instead and save as PSD, finally you must use use CMYK + Spot as your output space from quark.

drop shadows and OPI

Yes its complicated, if you can make a successful pdf and then print from Acrobat you'll be using pretty much the same print engine as InDesign. Alternatively in quark's print dialogue set your Transparency Flattening resolutions to match your printer's native dpi, if that's too high then halve it.

drop shadows and OPI

Hi guyminder, your jpg shows type fattening in areas affected by transparency flattening, try Exporting your PDF with Native Transparency.

drop shadows and OPI

I'm not understanding what you mean by "refused to update", if you edit the high res thats placed, it should update in quark, if you update the high res that generates the .lay, its no longer in the quark document so it can't update. if you try and send OPI on a placed high res rather than a .lay it...

drop shadows and OPI

You are mixing OPI and drop shadows[:'(] You need to be confident of exactly what file types are supported and how they are handled by your OPI. (The last OPI I used was many years ago and that for example wouldn't handle LZW compression on TIFFs) If you are only putting .lay files into quark then t...

Quark 8 PDF Export Grayscale - Black text goes gray

When you open a pdf in photoshop (unless it is a photoshop pdf) YOU define the colour space it opens up as, it WILL CONVERT if you set a different space. Not saying you are converting but be aware that it's a possiblity.

Cant pdf separations in Quark 9

Would an output color setup of As Is not work with a multichannel psd?
