Help! Mac 4.1 freezing, with blank dialogue box

You could try regenerating your Prefs, I think if you move the file MacHD/Applications (Mac OS 9)/QuarkXPress 4.11/XPress Preferences then try to start Quark4 again quark should create a fresh one.

Cant pdf separations in Quark 9

Hmmm .psd is the one format that IS supposed to work through to composite PDF, I hope deprecating host based separations in q9 hasn't messed this up. (: I think the lid is on my quark coffin but still a few more nails to go.

Pantone spot colors print in cmyk

I found I needed to check the box ignore transparency flattening and all worked fine This isn't the answer you are looking for.. [:^)] This checkbox means that all opacity settings are stripped from all objects, you could be getting quite different output to intended. I'd try ronwell's advice, I'd ...

Quark 9 remembers Alpha Channels in images.

I was assuming that the images no longer had an alpha channel. What I was trying to say is that somehow Quark is still seeing and using the alpha channel from the previous image, so internally to quark it has become detached from the original image and embedded into the quark Document. There are 3 w...

Quark 9 remembers Alpha Channels in images.

Does this happen only if you Update from PSD to EPS through Picture Usage or if you use a fresh File Place or the script to Replace a picture? At some point it was a known bug that the shadows became detached from text but can't remember it happening with pictures.

Source Profile's relationship to Output Profile

Wow so much good data Thanks again. At the risk of making my head hurt, can I ask some supplementary questions? Convert the image to a large gamut space, e.g. XYZ or Lab space, and write out to PostScript as /CIEABC. This happens when you use an Output Setup As Is with Use Device Independent Colour ...

Source Profile's relationship to Output Profile

Hi Graham, again many thanks for your answers. If you can get someone to check my logic for Q1 and Q2 that would be great. From a different thread re photoshop postscript color mangement: You can also get half the way there by converting to an XYZ space using the /CIEABC mechanism available from lev...

Importing Photoshop tiff files with embedded profiles

I believe that InDesign references the ICC profile name in the Postscript (if printing), If a profile of the same name is available to Distiller (from the OS) its able to tag it back on to the image in the PDF.
