A modest proposal

hdfonts: " I counted nearly 375 different magazines at our local Walmart Super Center. Of those, less than 10 of the above list are carried. That's even less of a percentage for InDesign than I estimated. " That doesn't mean that the other 365 are produced with Quark, you know. You may have missed t...

From HDfonts: "The only major magazine that Adobe lists on their site as created in InDesign is Glamour UK." Not true: First, Glamour U.S. edition is produced with InDesign. Hearst Publishing: Cosmopolitan House Beautifui O The Oprah Magazine Marie Claire Seventeen Esquire Popular Mechanics Australi...

What makes you think InDesign is trashy? Compared to Quark it has most of the reviews nailed. Many very well known industry professionals have ported over. I'm not surprised that Quark can't get its act together and keep it that way. Their reputation for treating customers like refuse is legendary. ...

Bill Troop = Quark Lap Dog?

From what I understand, Ebrahimi is still the "owner" of Quark, but stepped down from being CEO. If he's the sole owner of Quark, how is it that he "left the company for good?" Does anyone here think that if he's still the owner, he's not still pulling any strings on his baby?

Goodbye Quark

"Can you really give that much credit to some report that says how much time you're going to save if you switch to InDesign?" Absolutely. It's an extremely comprehensive report. "As Homer Simpson so aptly put it: "People can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that." " Beca...

Goodbye Quark

Let's say, for people who are familiar with either program, what you can do with Quark in 10 hours, you can do with ID in 8 hours. Say you spend about 30 hours a week on Quark. That would be 24 hours a week with InDesign. Say, that for the first two weeks of getting up to speed on InDesign, it takes...

Goodbye Quark

As with any new tool, once you get over the learning curve, you become productive with it. The thing regarding Quark and InDesign, is that you can get a lot more done faster than you can with Quark, plus, the end result looks better. So, you can either go through the long haul, using a tool that you...
