X-Ray Magazine

"Cheerleading? Absolutely! I chose these articles because I think the typical QuarkXPress user is unaware of other Quark software titles and these authors did a great job at explaining them on a non-user or new-user level." The typical designer who is familiar with BOTH pieces of software, may have...

X-Ray Magazine

Graham, there's nothing quite like keeping your finger on the pulse of the industry and knowing you picked the team with the strongest vital statistics. There's nothing sad about informing people in the same business about sound business decisions we have made, and pointing out what is obviously P.R...

Quark's marketing silliness

I don't believe Quark is immitating Adobe's practices, other than having launched a marketing campaign. That's where the similarities end. Where the two marketing campaigns diverge is that Adobe kept it honest and played up its feature parity advantages (which were numerous). Quark doesn't have a le...

Quark's marketing silliness

Regardless of Tim's usual whining about anyone who is critical of Quark (the company or its software), discussing the marketing campaigns of competing products is a legitimate topic. Discussing a company and its products, and criticism of the company and its products are what happens on any company'...

X-Ray Magazine

"The intent of this magazine is not to show superiority over other products, though often authors have their own ideas and want to share them. The intent is to provide Quark software product users with accurate information about the software they use." If that's the case, some of the information pro...

Quark's marketing silliness

Speaking of "irrelevancy," nice post Tim. It's not a dead topic. That ad campaign is a current event. It's designed to impact the global page layout environment. People who are interested in the goings on within the design community rightfully discuss such things. If you don't believe people should ...

Quark's marketing silliness

"Powerful design tools that other layout software can only dream about" Really? What would other layout software only "dream about?" Layers Multiple undos PSD import InDesign dreamt those features up (and implemented them) long before Quark COPIED Adobe. "Silly" is right.

X-Ray Magazine

The "problem" is that they are catching up to the previous version of InDesign, not the recent version or the soon to be released version.

Check out X-Ray Magazine

"Quark has always been superior to competitors in print publishing" ROFLMAO. Who do you think you're kidding? Maybe it was superior to competitors in the '90s, because it had none to speak of. InDesign has been wiping the floor with Quark for the last 5 years. Come on. Quit hyping us. We know better.

Quark vs InDesign. Which give you less trouble?

I switched to InDesign quite some time ago. I wouldn't touch Quark with a ten foot pole.

My vendors have accepted my InDesign files. To my knowledge, they haven't had any problems with my files either. I build good, clean files.

I must say that, InDesign gives me fewer problems.
