X-Ray Magazine

One article that I found to be disingenuous right away is the article about why not to switch, by Erika Kendra. She refutes 3 reasons she claims to hear the most about why to switch: "It took them too long," "Cost," and "Software activation." Cost is a very important reason, but she leaves out the m...

Quark- will it work for me?

[quote:ad422620ed]I disagree that any of your points qualify as "earth shattering". Your refusal to allow anyone an alternate point of view makes dabating the topic pointless... You really didn't have any valid refutations. Your refusal to accept the fact that InDesign is an incredibly innovative pi...

Quark- will it work for me?

[quote:5800e24717]Are you saying that CS doesn't require a more modern RIP? CS is far more forgiving than earlier versions... It still requires a more modern RIP Me: There are a number of "earth shattering" developments which InDesign brought about. [quote:5800e24717] Really???? Really. [quote:5800e...

Quark- will it work for me?

David Blatner has also stated that InDesign is lightyears beyond Quark and he can't imagine himself going back to Quark. He has literally referred to Quark as a dinosaur. http://www.creativepro.com/story/feature/20604.html "I'm surprised because I've been a QuarkXPress lover since 1988, when I switc...

Quark- will it work for me?

I've been doing page layout on computers since 1986, when it first became available. My suggestion is to go with InDesign (the full Creative Suite). Not only does it cost less than Quark, it's a much better program. It offers more features. It's more stable. It sets better type. Adobe is a more cons...

Which is a better program in all Quark or Indesign?

I say go with InDesign. You get a lot more for your money. It lays out pages better. You have more control over your design elements. Adobe treats its customers better by a long shot. You can accomplish more in a shorter period of time. I haven't seen a software reviewer who has said that Quark's th...

Save our Quark

[quote:ad726a7480]Many of these companies keep talking themselves into believing that they made the right decision to go the InDesign route. When, in fact it was purely a short termist cost based decision. Many of these 30 companies you consult say they made the right decision, but you know better t...

When will QuarkXpress 6.2 be released?

I was being sarcastic, Dennis. Quark representatives made all kinds of announcements about the delays in releasing an OSX version so they wouldn't have bugs. They did the same thing for versions 4 and 5. Here's an example (from Bret Mueller, Quark's senior project ...

When will QuarkXpress 6.2 be released?

What "known issues?

There can't be any known issues!

Quark kept telling us that they were holding back on releasing 6.0 for OSX so it would be a bug-free release.

It's not surprising that they missed this deadline and are quiet about it. That's Quark.
