Single Issue App - how to remove store screen?

Post by marktimothy » 06 Jul 2014, 16:30

I am developing a single issue app. I want to disable the “issue browser” (the app catalogue type screen) screen that the app starts in, and have the app just start up with my splash screen and then go straight into the issue. Can anyone advise about how I can configure the app to do this?

Hi Mark,

in App Builder under UI Config there should be a check box "Single Issue", which does exactly that.

Thanks
Matthias

Thank you, Matthias. The store screen does not display, which is great.
However, I am attempting to publish a simple childrens book. I do not need or want any of the inbuilt 'appstudio' functionality or display. In particular, I do not want the top horizontal (hamburger) white bar to appear when the screen is pressed, nor the sidebar to appear at any point, either. The issue is an interactive book, and children will be pressing the screen at random places and times, in order to trigger video and audio and hidden sound effects/ popups etc. In particular, I have an audio button on every page, that needs to be pressed for story narration. This often also pulls up the (unwanted) appstudio horizontal bar.
Could you please advise on how to disable all 'appstudio' UI elements
Thank you
Mark

Hi Mark,

I never tried that, what when you also check "Navigation bars Permanently hide" and "Issue navigation scrubber is not included"?

Thanks
Matthias

Thanks Matthias
I hadn't permanently hidden the navigation bars.
I seem to be overlooking the obvious at the moment!
Much appreciated
Regards
Mark

Hi Matthias
Unfortunately, the problem of horizontal Navigation bar not being hidden, is only partially resolved. The top horizontal bat is hidden MOST of the time. HOWEVER, when a child (as they often do at a young age)) rotates the ipad around 180 degrees, the top horizontal bar reappears. This obscures the various interactive buttons within my app, and also cannot be subsequently hidden. The sidebar also becomes available again, which is also unwanted.
The only way I can currently resolve the rotation problem seems to be by getting users to lock rotation of their iPads, which is not really a sensible option.
Please can you help.
Thank you
Mark Hannon
