Ad hoc provisioning profile problem

Post by marktimothy » 15 Jul 2014, 16:23

I am trying to update the ad hoc provisioning profile to be used by my app. This is because I want to add new device UDID(s) so that I can test my app on other devices. I have created a new ad hoc provisioning profile on the apple developer website and I have confirmed that this contains the new UDIDs that I want to add.

I have tried replacing the distribution profile for my app by:

logging in to app studio website
going to app manager
selecting my chosen app
going to certificates and profiles tab
uploading the new file for field : "Distribution provisioning profile" (to replace the one I uploaded previously)

It appears to have received my file and it updates the name shown, but when I then submit the app, and download it, it's still using the old provisioning profile.

I have opened the ipa file and examined the embedded mobileprovision file and I can see that it still has only the original device UDIDs in there.

I'm guessing I need to trigger a full rebuild of the app on the server side somehow - is there anyway I can initiate this?

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Hi Mark,

yes, you need to build a new version of your app to incorporate the new profile into the app.

Thank
Matthias

Hi Matthias
Can you please clarify whether that means I have to create a new app in the app manager and put all the details in again?
(I already tried putting the new info into the existing 'build' section, retitling the issue and re-submitting.. which didn't work.)
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

just go to the App Manager section of your publication, upload the new provisioning profile that you have received from Apple after having made these changes and then build a new app (a new version that is).

That's all you need to do, no need to change anything else in App Manager (besides new profile and new version number).

Thanks
Matthias
