App not being charged for correctly

Hi all,

I currently have my third issue of the App available and have been notified that it is being given away for free when it should actually be charged for. I immediately went to iTunesConnect thinking I had set up the In-App purchases incorrectly. I hadn't so contacted iTunes to complain that there was an error on the App Store and would they sort it. It took 3 wks with much negotiation but the result was that it is NOT an iTunes issue but a coding issue from the App Studio end. I have checked and double checked everything I can but nothing seems different in the way I have set up this 3rd issue compared to the previous two issues. Has anyone experienced this? Can anyone advise on how I can resolve this as I have been effectively loosing a lot of revenue and with my next issue due to be published very soon, you can imagine my concern.

Hi Globe and Buster,

it depends on what you are selling.

If you are selling your app, then the only way to specify it is in iTunesConnect, App Studio has nothing to do with it.

However, as it reads later, you seem to be (also?) selling the issues inside the app. Then you need to specify inside App Studio which In-App-Purchase (IAP) will be taken. So, set up the pricing for your IAP in iTunesConnect (can only be done there) and then use the same identifier in App Studio. I assume you are not using subscription but one-time purchases. These you specify in the "Edit" dialog of each issue, in the field "In-App Purchase ID".

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to respond, very much appreciated.

We are selling a bi-monthly magazine.

It is free to download the initial background app and see sample pages from our publication, from there on in we have set up an IAP for each issue to be sold separately, plus an auto renewable to be sold bi-monthly and yearly.

In our 'Edit' dialog of each issue, we do have the IAP ID but for some reason on this latest issue we are experiencing this problem. Can you suggest anything else?
