Newsstand gone in iOS 9

Post by Matthias Guenther (Quark) » 09 Jun 2015, 08:12

Hi all,

as you might have heard, Apple announced what iOS 9 will look like.

Beside an interesting approach to News submission with the new News app, they also announced that Newsstand will vanish in iOS9.

So if you are using your App Studio app inside Newsstand, I'd seriously give it some thoughts whether you shouldn't move your app out of Newsstand and onto the Homescreen of your readers' devices (which is a simple click in the App Manager inside appstudio.net and a resubmission to Apple).

Thanks
Matthias

Hi Glacier,

I doubt that this will be the case, as you can make your app "non-Newsstand" already today and you don't loose subscriptions. Unless Apple plans to discontinue subscriptions of course. However I haven't heard that anywhere.

What's the source of this rumor please?

Thanks
Matthias

I don't recall. It was a story online from a reputable agency however.

Hi Glacier,

here's a report confirming that Newsstand might just be converted to a normal folder:
