Patch for iOS issue with QX2017? Please help

ISince there seems to be no way to contact support at Quark without paying, I'm posting here in the hopes that someone with some power will forward this on.

There is apparently a bug in QX2017 that produces an error in epubs when viewed on iOS devices. See this post:

viewtopic.php?f=12&p=129501#p129501

I'm told it's fixed in QX2018 and I should upgrade.

I don't want to. Upgrading invariably changes my workflow and introduces new issues that have to be resolved and I don't think I should have to. If this is a bug, there should be a patch that resolves this bug. I don't want whatever additional functionality that comes with 2018, I just want 2017 to work correctly.

Please don't let me down Quark - -I've been using you for more than 20 years.

Hi jgold,

this issue unfortunately happens because Apple made some changes in later versions of iOS. We don’t consider this a bug in QuarkXPress 2017, as it worked with the newest version of iOS available when QuarkXPress 2017 shipped.

When Apple made this change, QuarkXPress 2018 was current. Therefore we have fixed that in QuarkXPress 2018 of course.

That said, one of our passionate engineers has taken the time to back port the fix to 2017. Of course this isn’t fully tested, however we are happy to provide you with the fix, which will probably work as a solution for you.

Are you happy to test this unofficial fix?

Cheers
Matthias

Hi Matthias --

I answered on FB, but I'll repeat here -- absolutely, I'd be delighted to test the patch. Thank you!
