Are the backups and the original document saved over a network drive?? Increasing the number of Autobackups is one choice!

Well, no Idea about the external firewire drive.. but incase of a network drive I always prefer saving the documents locally on my machine and then copying them over..

Gopa,

I agree with Rhea about working locally rather than to an external disk.

Barring that... What fonts are you using in your doc? Any chance one of them is corrupt? Are you using pictures?

Does this corruption happen at the same point in this document?

Are you using any third-party XTs?

What OS are you using? What version of XPress?

Have you checked with the vendor of your Firewire disk to make sure that it's compatible with the version of the OS you're using -- and applied the disk manufacturer's updater if it's not?

Are you booted from the firewire disk, or just working to it?
