Without specific information it's impossible for us to provide any help on this. What we would need would be the following:
1. The file you're trying to download e.g. QuarkXPress 9.5.4 Mac Updater
2. Your IP address to the internet (http://www.whatismyip.com)
3. Ideally the output of the tracert command to files.quark.com (tracert files.quark.com) would be what it is on Windows (not sure of the Mac equivalent)
4. Ideally the output of this debug url http://quark.cachefly.net/CacheFlyDebug

Once we have this we can open a ticket with CacheFly to dig deeper.

It looks like your thread was posted from a location in the US which uses the exact same CacheFly server as we hit at Quark in Denver. We've tested here both within the building and on an external DSL line without problems on multiple machines. We don't have any special access to these files as they are all hosted externally by CacheFly i.e. we all see the same.

As per my other post, perhaps a conversation with your ISP might also be a good move to see if they can trace what the problem is. There's clearly an issue somewhere between the CacheFly server and it getting to your computer but we'll need more specifics (or your ISP will) in order to track down the issue.

On a Mac go under Applications to the Utility folder and start the "Network Utility" application. Under "Traceroute" is the equivalent of "tracert".

Okay I've found the 'trace route' folder on my Mac and the window asking me to enter the network address to trace an internet route to. What do I type in there please? Sorry to sound thick, but I'm a journalist, not an IT professional and I can't always follow the IT-speak!

Just type "files.quark.com" and then Enter or click on "Trace", copy and paste the info you get and send it in a private email to Quark (don't put it in here).
It look like this (only last few lines copied):
5 ams-ix.ae1.cr1.ams2.nl.nlayer.net (195.69.145.219) 14.205 ms 13.860 ms 14.190 ms
6 vlan-73.ar1.ams3.nl.nlayer.net (69.22.139.126) 16.352 ms 21.466 ms 16.029 ms
7 vip1.g-anycast1.cachefly.net (205.234.175.175) 15.233 ms 14.742 ms 15.358 ms

@Gaynor or anyone else having the issue who wants to help troubleshoot. Please send me your ip, tracerout and debug data via private message here on the site or via email at mjames@quark.com as I will be the one to chase it up with our host.
Thanks much!

Hi to all on this postAlso a long -time Quark user (home on 9.3.1, work just started using 10.02 after the update fixing its crashes). Need some clarification. Like others on this post, 9.3.1. works on Mavericks except in the case of moving text boxes (stops and complete crash). The forum mentions updates "Available for 9" Am I to assume all of the 9 or just 9.5. So the real question is, will there be an official update for 9.3.1 so that it will not crash on Mavericks or will I have to upgrade to at least 9.5 in order to get the upgrade. From a small, independent designer not quite willing to pay for version 10 yet. But may have to start using InDesign and the primary program.

I think you're getting a little confused so let me see if I can help. QuarkXPress 9.3.1 is a previous release of QuarkXPress 9 and does NOT support Mavericks. If you would like to run QuarkXPress 9 on Mavericks you need to download the free update for all QuarkXPress 9 users, which is called QuarkXPress 9.5.4. This is the only version of QuarkXPress 9 that is supported to run on Mavericks. You can download the installer from http://www.quark.com/en/Support/Downloa ... px?fid=270

I think you understood. I was not clear if 9.5.4 was a free update from 9.3.1. My update notifier tells me that I am up to date but not indicate that 9.5.4 is available. Will try that later today.
