Shortcut keys for dialog after Command+W

Post by Matthias Guenther (Quark) » 20 Nov 2014, 04:13

Hi all,

i am sure a lot of you use Command+W to close a document window.

If you haven't saved your work yet, QuarkXPress will present you a dialog whether you want to save your work with three choices: DON'T SAVE - CANCEL - SAVE

Example:

No time to grab the mouse? Use a shortcut key, QuarkXPress is all about shortcut keys.

Did you know that this dialog has three shortcut keys?
Escape (for "Cancel") and Return (for "Save") are obvious.

But what about "Don't Save"? Sure:
In QuarkXPress 3-6: Command+N
In QuarkXPress 7-9: Command+N or Command+D
In QuarkXPress 10: Command+D

Enjoy!
Matthias

Matthias, just to be clear, isn't that just a part of the OS?

I ask because those commands work in other OS X applications as well. I use them all the time.

Hi Erik,

cancel and return, yes, of course. But not the Command+N or Command+D. Try an Apple application (like TextEdit), it is always a good way of telling you what is part of the OS (or maker of the OS).

It's a different story on Windows of course, he alternative option-key usage is part of the OS, software vendors just need to tap into it.

Thanks
Matthias
