Mac OS 10.6.2, Quark 8.1.6, and Ricoh CL 7200 printer not pr

When a job is sent to this printer from Quark the output is jibberish. Even when a single page seleted to be printed, prints hundreds of blank pages or pages with a small amount of jibberish at the top of the page. The same document sent to the HP 4650 or HP 4100mfp (a non color printer) the output is as expected. This is only happening within the Quark application and I have searched this forum for a solution and saw a reference to CUPP? but the link no longers works. Has anyone else had similar problems? Were you able to solve it? If so please share the solution.

Have you tried choosing different PPD options under Device Options? That drop-down should be on the first screen that comes up when you click File > Print. If you've tried selecting the Ricoh CL 7200, try an Adobe PDF version.

You might also try changing one of the Print settings. Under "Pictures," change the Data setting to Clean 8-bit. That should work, but if it doesn't you could also try changing it to ASCII.

Good luck if you have found an answer. I have the same problem with an Okidata C9300. I found some interesting issues when using an Illustrator file and Photoshop file. I just recently updated my posting about this postscript problem. I'm sorta glad to know I'm not the only one. I have had no luck with the Quark techs.

I've had the same issues with an Okidata C9300. Selecting Clean 8-bit, ASCII or Binary didn't solve the problem. I can print the page by distilling the page as an Adoble pdf. However, it's time consuming by going an extra step. I would rather print directly from Quark8.

I'd posted that simply changing the Print > Pictures > Data setting to Clean 8-bit was the solution, but that didn't work for me at all today.
What DID work was opening my EPS in Photoshop and saving it with ASCII encoding and a TIFF 8-bit preview. Saving as a TIFF wasn't an option as the photo was a duotone for a 2-color job. I then changed my Print > Pictures > Data setting in Quark to ASCII. Everything printed out just fine.
One other thing -- this Quark document contained an Illustrator EPS as well. For some reason, Snow Leopard seems to have a hard time distinguishing between what's a Photoshop EPS and what's an Illustrator EPS. I changed the settings in the FInder > Get Info to make sure the Illustrator EPS was opening in Illustrator.

I had the same problem with a Ricoh Aficio MP C2551 PS. I tried updating the CUPS filter, printing ASCII and Clean 8-bit without success. What I finally discovered was that on my Ricoh display panel, I could change the Postscript Data Format to Binary Data. Seems to have solved the problem. On this Ricoh it was under USER TOOLS / Printer Features / Postscript (PS) Menu / Data Format: set to Binary Data. Hope this helps. Ken

This fixed it for me. Quark 9.5 on OS X 10.6, printing to a Ricoh Aficio C4502 using the PS driver from the Ricoh website. THANKS KEN![
