PDF output with read-only protection

Post by Judith » 03 Dec 2013, 22:53

I'm using Quark XPress 10.0.1 on Mavericks to export to PDF (Print option). When the PDF is opened in Acrobat Reader XI, under File>Security>Secruity Method the message 'No Security' appears and Show Details is greyed out. I'm aware that this might be a problem with Acrobat Reader XI rather than XP, but wondered whether anyone has a solution to exporting to PDF from XP10 in a way that allows security to be applied (I want the file to be read-only).

Adobe Reader cannot set Security attributes. Adobe Acrobat can. Please note that Security permissions set by an application during PDF creation or by Acrobat are not really secure. It can be broken in seconds.
