Devanagari font support and odd error message

Post by Jim Schwartz » 03 Jan 2013, 08:27

I just upgraded to QuarkXPress 9.5 for the Mac. I am disappointed on the Devanagari support... unless I'm doing something wrong. It does not seem to do conjuncts (ligatures) at all.I also get an error message, when I load a document with Devanagari, that says: "This document contains text runs or style sheets that require Hindi hyphenation. [90]"Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated!

Hi,

Mac OS X 10.9.4, QuarkXPress 9.5.1.

I ran in the same issue. I even changed the entire font to Arial Unicode MS. Still received complaints from Hindi linguist that: The order of some Hindi letters is not correct and joint letters appear to be separate. They are correct in the MS Word files I sent. Almost 90% of words have to be marked.

Have no idea what to do, especially that there is no Hindi language when I looked in Utilities - Convert Project Language.

Is there a solution to this issue?

Thank you.

Sebastian
