Newbie: Photoshop TIFF to match Quark Background Colour

Post by nigelm » 24 May 2010, 01:06

Hi
I'm trying to get two CMYK colours to match in the quark document. Both are set to C=10, M=7, Y=8, K=0
The TIFF image has been created in Photoshop.

Quark is darker on the screen.
How can I match the two settings.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards
Nigel

Nigel. You can drive yourself nuts trying to match it. There are a lot of variables, least of which would be color calibrating your monitor. In general it is best to have color management off. You cannot do that completely in QuarkXPress, but you can make it as unobtrusive as possible using Legacy settings.
All that matters is that the values in XPress and the values in Photoshop are the same. If they are then it does not matter what they look like on screen. Try making a test print (or PDF) and you will see what I mean. They will match on output.

Thanks for the advice - I felt myself being drawn in to a long technical issue, but you've helped me avoid it.
Many thanks
Nigel
