Quark 8.x and 9.x Cannot Import SWF Files into Web Page With

I am extremely frustrated because I can create some nifty SWF animations with Quark but I cannot under any circumstance import and SWF file (Quark or Adobe) into a picture box on an HTML page made by Quark XPress v8.x or v9.x. The application always freezes and then quits. I am using Quark 8.5.1 on an 2 x 4-core mid 2010 Mac Pro running OS 10.6.8. I do not have this problem with Quark running on a G5 with OS 10.4.11. Does anyone know a workaround? Does anyone know when Quark intends to fix the problem?
I have trashed and rebuilt prefs and even reinstalled both the OS and the apps to no avail.

Hello Moyssi,
Please check which version of Adobe Flash Player you are using. Are you using the most recent version of the flash player or the previous version?
Thank you

To execute .swf file in Web layout, you have to follow these steps:
1. Create a web layout.
2. Drag and drop the valid .swf file into web layout as an image (Don't create any picture box on the layout).
3. Invoke Modify dialog and go to Export tab.
4. Set Export As- SWF, and press Ok.
5. Now export your web project as HTML.
Hope it helps.

Thank you, Kanav. I cannot do anything that you suggest because Quark immediately freezes, stalls and then quits after I try to import any Flash file into any web layout. Even a blank page. This has been absolutely consistent behavior since I migrated from Power Mac G5 running OS 10.4.11 to Mac Pro running 10.5.x and 10.6.x. Quark tech support has replicated my problem but has been uncharacteristically silent.

Please follow the above stated steps and Don't import .swf file, just drag and drop it into web layout.

Kanav, Are you telling me that you can make this work on a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard? For me, dragging and dropping yields the same result as importing: Quark freezes the moment that I drop the image, then quits a few seconds later. Every time.

Yes, i am able to use .swf file in a Web layout by this workaround. Could you please install latest Flash Plugin 10.3, and then follow the above stated steps.

Kanav, Thank you for your patient concern. I have Flash Player and plugin version 10.3.181.34 but drag-and-drop still crashes Quark just as it does when I try to import an *.swf file. Is there a newer version that I cannot find on Adobes site?

We have found that latest flash plugin has few compatibility issues with latest Snow Leopard version i.e. 10.6.8. The only workaround left is that you may move to snow leopard version 10.6.7 and proceed ahead. I have escalated the issue to the concerned department. Thank you so much for your patience.
