Tip: Customizable scrollbar (and scrollable picture lists)

You have completed your first interactive designs with QuarkXPress 7, 8 & 9 and now have need for more advanced functionality. Discuss Expressions here, ask questions and learn more about them.
Please note that Flash (SWF) authoring is not supported in QuarkXPress 10 anymore.

Hi Odin,
it's a variation of the one here: p/21817/88042.aspx#88042
Enjoy!

Super, (almost) just what I need :)
The code and objects/script, looks relative simple, but how much should I change, to make it horizontal? May I guess to change these X,Y positions?

Hi Odin,
code??? You probably mean the Expressions (functions), right?
Yes, just swap the Y functions with the X functions and move the object by an x offset (and not y offset). Of course you also need to adjust x/y-coordinates values (depending on your layout).
Regards
Matthias

Sorry, for me it all look like code, but yes I meant Expressions. I made it work all fine, pretty easy, as you say just remember that in this layout the start of is not 50 y, but perhaps 300 x!
These numbers at the pictures, how do I remove them?

Hi Odin,
the difference is big, Expressions are like formulas in Excel (=SUM()), code would be more like a Visual Basic macro in Excel. The latte ris programming.

Sure, you can customize these boxes with numbers, the elements are in a separate layout. Look at the top of the document window and select the tab "Scrollelement".
Thanks

thanks, but I think you missunderstood my issue :) Of couse I found the layout and imported some pictures, but the numbers are still there! Anyway, meanwhile I figured out to make the scroll-thing from scratch [H]

Hi Odin,
ahhh. Well, these numbers are bezier "cut-outs" from the boxes.
You can get rid of them (or better, seperate them) by using "Item > Split".
Best

Hi formosa,
formosa34 wrote:I cannot get text to display

I guess that you do not have the proper fonts loaded. Do you get a missing font dialog?
If yes, you will see the text within QuarkXPress but not after export in the SWF as QuarkXPress doesn't know how to vectorize them.
Replace the missing fonts with any font and you should see the text in the SWF.
Thanks

Hi Mathias,
Thanks, you are awesome, that was the problem. But how and where do I install missing fonts. I need Helvetica and/or Arial
Thanks again
