Creating a download sound file option

I'm working in an interactive layout & want to allow users on our website to click on a button to download an audio file as opposed to them "option clicking" a hyperlink. Is there a way of doing this?

Creating a download sound file option

Hi jfirst,
just provide them with the URL of the download. The exported Flash (SWF) will pass the URL to the browser and the browser will do whatever it can do with such file types. So if you provide your sounds as a ZIP, most browser will start downloading it.

Creating a download sound file option

Thanks Matthias. Currently we have uploaded audio as mp3 files so when the URL is accessed, it opens a browser window that PLAYS the mp3 file. At present, on our website, we advise: Mac OSXHold down the option key & click on the specific SERMONTITLE. That sermon will download to the Desktop (or other folder if you set one in preferences). Single-clicking the SERMONTITLE will begin playback immediately in your web browser.Windows PC/LinuxRight-click on the specific SERMONTITLE & choose the option for Saving the link (or target). It will say "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As..." or "Download Link...". Double-clicking the downloaded file should open the file & begin playback. This means that the same file that is played in the browser is downloaded when someone either option clicks or right clicks etc. What I ant to do is have a button that gives the same result as option-click etc by simply clicking on the button. is that possible without creating zip files?

Hi jfirst,
it might help if you put an .htaccess file into the folder where the MP3s reside and add
AddType application/octet-stream .mp3
to it. I am not sure whetehr all browser value that though and have't tried that with a URL out of Flash, though there shouldn't be a difference.
Please try and let us know.

Thanks
Matthias
