How to hide registration windows?

Post by WoKo » 02 Jul 2015, 06:53

Hi folks,

I have to install QuarkXpress 2015 on about 50 clients via software-deployment. I used the install-documents for "silent install" but I still receive the "register Quark 2015 window"-

I would like to hide this windows because it will confuse my users.

Although we have fixed this in our next release, you may avoid showing this message to users using a workaround.

As part of deployment (or any other way), create an EMPTY file named "reg" at the following path "C:\ProgramData\Quark\QuarkXPress 2015". If QuarkXPress finds the file during launch, it won't show the Registration Dialog.

Thank you for your fast reply!

It still takes a lot of time to get *any* correct answer via quark-support by mail.
It took about one week just to read "you can click on next to hide this message".

Any ideas how to dismiss/hide this screen on OS X?

This screen is only shown once, on first launch, and you can continue without registration.

Or else, you may create an empty file named ".reg" inside the "Required Components" folder inside QuarkXPress folder. [Note: Files with names starting with a dot are hidden on Mac OS]

Sorry but that isn't true with the version we have - the screen shows on every launch and there doesn't seem any way to dismiss it. The product has already been registered. Thanks for the workaround, this has been tried and works.

May I know which version do you have and on which OS? Glad that the workaround helped.
