Overprint information in imported EPS

Post by Matthias Guenther (Quark) » 04 May 2015, 09:53

Hi all,

we unfortunately just heard of a bug in QuarkXPress 2015 that will effect output when using EPS.

It seems that when importing EPS with over print information and exporting a PDF with unflattened transparency (e.g. PDF/X-4), then the overprint information is lost. When converting the EPS a PDF or AI, then everything works correctly. Also when exporting in a flattened format (e.g. PDF/X-1a) then everything seems to work fine.

We are not sure yet whether all EPS are effected or just specific ones, so this just as a heads up if you are using EPS and X4 workflows.

Workarounds for now:
1) Convert your EPS into a PDF and reimport.
2) Or output with flattened transparency.

Will update you here once we have more information and when we can fix this.

Thanks
Matthias

P.S.: The same works fine in QuarkXPress 10.

Hi all,

ok, we have fixed the problem now. It will be rolled out with the next update of QuarkXPress 2015, most likely end of this month.

Regards
Matthias

Hi Utah,

it first appeared as if they were just specific EPS, it now seems that all EPS are effected.

Thanks
Matthias
