Printing offset

Post by PetarMakedonecot » 06 Jun 2015, 04:50

When printing duplex, the printout does not match, usually. First/second page has to be repositioned for a small amount of units. So, can you add this option to print dialog box to offset one of the pages to fit each other while printing (on paper or PDF) instead of reposition them in QXP? I saw this feature in Papyrus (text processor) and it is very usefull.

I guess this is a problem of the printer (or printer driver) and not of QuarkXPress.

Rarely will a consumer-grade printer duplex with accuracy. Second side is still off. I get better (i.e., more accurate) results manually flipping pages for sending a company a physical proof than using my Phaser's duplexing option. But as I rarely print proofs the offset doesn't bother me too much.

Which is why Petar is making the request--the ability to enter an offset so the sides will line up a bit better.

@max.piter
No, it is not a problem of a printer driver. I saw this option in Papyrus, a German Office software. It is used by every printer you use but only by this software.

So, it's a software problem (other than QuarkXPress). Probably you'll get the same problem when you export to PDF and print from a PDF viewer or from Acrobat. You can check this comparing the definitions of pages included in both even and odd pages, after exporting to postscript files. You could see that is no difference. That is why the cause of the problem appears when the output from QXP is read by other software.
Quark engineers cannot customize QXP's output for every software maker. Nobody does this.

Hi Max,
it is not problem. Just an option included into Papyrus's print function. They added it to make perfect fit of both printed sides of the paper.

So, when all of us find it OK, it's now Quark's turn to do it. :D

Hi Peter,

Thank you contacting Quark.

I have downloaded the demo version of Papyrus and there was no option for the Duplex printing in the Print dialog.

I have attached one screenshot for the same.

Kindly provide some more info and send the files to apalaniappan@quark.com

Thanks
