Printing 4-up

Post by bigj6360 » 07 Apr 2017, 13:55

I am a complete Quark Xpress Noob. But, now I have QX2016 and I am excited to use it. my first project is a series of postcards and brochures. I am attempting to print 4-up. I have an indesign document I've typically used in the past that has been broken out into the 4-up layout. How do I prepare a document with a row gutter to split it into a 4-up layout, or is there a way in a 1-up layout to use a print dialog expand it to 4-up upon print?

I'm sorry for the complete ignorance, I know there's got to be an easy way to do this.

There are at least a few ways of doing this. I don't know if you have fronts/backs in the same file, separate, or at all.

One is to replicate whatever layout method you did in the ID set up.

Another is to export to PDF a 1-up version, then import the PDF and duplicate it using an image grid or guidelines for palcement.

Yet another is what I do, which is to export to PDF and then use an imposition software to do the imposing.
