Quark2015 and Suitcase

Discuss third-party XTensions® software for QuarkXPress 2015 and QuarkXPress 2016.
As the API hasn't changed between 2015 & 2016 versions, most XTension running in QuarkXPress 2015 should also work in QuarkXPress 2016.

Any news on the Suitcase 6 plugin?

I've looked on the Extensis website, forum and blog and can't find anything up-to-date.

We produce a weekly magazine and one section is a ten-page listing which needs updating every week. Each page needs to have the leading and line spacing tweaked once other alterations have been done. This is hideously slow in Quark 2015 and the only reason I can think of is that it's due to the lack of a Suitcase plugin. Am I right or should I look for something else causing this sluggishness (which certainly wasn't there with Quark 9)?

Hi SuperSwede66,

Can you kindly share your document along with fonts and images. You can mail it to me at sinair@quark.com

You can perform Collect for Output and archive the CFO folder; then upload it to some file sharing site like DropBox, We Transfer, etc and send me the link. I will download the attachment from there. Try to provide any such information which you think may help us analyze the issue.

Hi Sirish

Thanks for that. I'll see if I can do that and will send you a link so you can have a look.

For the moment I decided to back-save the document to Quark 10 (still not that good) and then 9 and then it works just fine.

Regards,
SS66

Hi SuperSwede,

you can let Extensis know that you urgently need their XTension to be compatible with QuarkXPress 2015 by mailing them to info@extensis.com

Just received the following answer from Extensis.
Thank you for contacting Extensis Customer Service. While Fusion 6 is fully compatible with OS X 10.10, it does not yet support auto-activation in the new Quark 2015. Quark has moved to a 64-bit architecture, and this can break the existing Fusion plugin. We are currently testing plugin compatibility in the new QuarkXPress 2015 with Fusion 6. Once we complete our testing Quark 2015, we will post an update on our website and notify our users.
Gives no idea of how long it might be, but hopefully something will be available in the near future.

Fingers crossed.

Well... Extensis have posted up the following on their blog site.

http://blog.extensis.com/quarkxpress/qu ... upport.php
Just a quick note that we are currently investigating the XTension compatibility of our Suitcase Fusion and Universal Type Client font management products with QuarkXPress 2015 and will keep you posted of our progress here on the blog. Please check back here for updates in the future.
We're still no further on knowing when we might expect something. But I suppose it's a step in the right direction.

Hi all,

great news, Extensis allowed me to share with you that a QX2015 compatible plug-in is in their development right now.

Extensis will also update their website soon and also communicate a date once they know a definite ship date.

Regards
Matthias
