Character style to apply colour only?

Post by andthepharaohs » 20 Feb 2020, 15:53

Hi,

I'm using QXP 2016 on Windows 10 FWIW.

I suspect the answer to this is no, but I might as well ask! Is there a way (as there is very easily in Word) to define a character style which just sets the underlying text to (say) orange, leaving all the other font attributes as they were? I can't see a way to define a character style without defining the font and size, but then I'm still a relative novice.

No. Character styles need to have a typeface & size defined.

What I do for all categories of character styles that say I need for a paragraph style named "body," is base all needed related character styles (lets say I need an italic, bold, bold italic) is to make one the "master" and base the others on it, just changing the style used. Then if the body text p.style changes to another typeface, I make a single change in the master character style and the ones based on it also change.

The same can be done for colors.
