FYI: disabling Welcome Screen.xnt causes applescripts to break

Post by jlake » 27 Feb 2019, 12:57

After weeks of trying to track down an error, I've finally found that if you disable the Welcome Screen Xtension in QuarkXPress 2018, applescripts no longer work. "if exists document 1" returns true, but get name of document 1 returns null. "tell text box 1 of page 1 of document 1" will not work.

This happened with all of our 8 licenses of 14.2.1 running on High Sierra 10.13.6. As soon I found out what was causing it, enabling this xtension and restarting Quark allowed the scripts to talk to Quark's documents again.
