Palettes set!

Post by hyw91 » 30 Nov 2017, 01:10

Hi, :)

I have created a palette set.
I want to delete a set of palettes that I don’t want to use.

How do I delete set of palettes?

Under Window > Palette Sets you can select Edit Palette Sets... in the newly opened window you can delete a set

Oh ... I am using Quark in Windows.
I did not see the editing of the palette set.
Where is the palette editing tool in Windows?

Windows:
Right-click the header of one of the palettes (Colors, Page Layout, etc.) to mark the palettes you want to have in the set. Set palette size. Then: Window / Palette Sets / Save Palette Set As

It's a little weird, but in Quark, some settings can only be erased in preferences. I would do this as follows: C: \ Users \ Name \ AppData \ Local \ Quark \ QuarkXPress 2016 \ Palette Sets - delete the xml file. If there is a "more normal" solution, I have not found it yet ...

Oh, I can delete the palette set.
However, in order to apply the deleted palette set, I have to re-run QuarkXPress.

I think we need an update for Quark2017 on this issue. In the Windows version.

Thanks!

This is not a bug that anyone will fix in version 2017.
This is how it has been in the quark for many years with other settings.
Nobody's going to do anything about it...

Palette sets are XML files stored in the AppData folder structure for the version you are using.

So for instance, this is the path on my computer to some palette sets:

C:\Users\mikew\AppData\Local\Quark\QuarkXPress 2017\Palette Sets

In that folder, I have these palette sets:
capture-001572.png
capture-001572.png (8.11 KiB) Viewed 1451 times
If I no longer want the Main2.xml palette set, I would simply select and delete it. Do so without Q running. Next time it is started you will no longer have that palette set available. So do make a backup in case you delete the wrong one(s).

To get to the AppData folder, you can type into FileExplorer:

%appdata%

and press return. Then you will be in the AppData\Roaming folder. You will need to navigate up in the structure, go into the Local folder, down to the Quark folder, etc. You may need to turn on the viewing of hidden files, but maybe not.

This is really a theme for improvement - most users do not know that this is to do this. He wants to delete something in the same place he created it. It's natural! Such cases are in Quark more ...
