Image object in two column layout

Post by Wh1t3Man2nd » 27 Mar 2020, 13:14

Is it possible to add an image object in two column text layout in QuarkXpress BUT the image should follow the text flow?

I'm aware of the following procedure:
- Creating image element.
- Copying the image element
- Placing the cursor in the specified text position
- Paste the image in teh text.

but this is NOT what i want since this works only for a single column. What i want is placing an image in two column text layout and if i add or remove a text the image should follow the flow.

I hope you understood what i mean.

Thanks.

I think I know what you mean.

I think what you want is called a callout anchor.

Here is an example:

And if I add text it will move according to the settings I am using:

Capture_000570.png (458.69 KiB) Viewed 2478 times
As you can see, I've added text so the callout anchor is now in the second column. The settings I am using are:
Capture_000571.png
Capture_000571.png (54.18 KiB) Viewed 2478 times
Different settings can/will achieve different results. I also have a wrap setting top/bottom and right for this example.

Thanks for your response!
That was the problem, you solved a big issue as for the text settings!

Have a nice day!

That is much complicated. In Affinity Publisher you need only two steps (no dialog box):

1. Place your picture where you want (inside or outside the text box);
2. Pin it to the text.

Now you may add or remove text and the picture flows with the text.

Yes...but have you actually tried it in APub?

Here's what will happen. You have two columns of text. You place an image that is wider than a column. You then make it an inline image somewhere in the first column. When you add text BEFORE the image, the inline image eventually goes to the second column, leaving a gap the height of the image in the first column. Not so good.

Or, you notice that the text in the second column goes behind the image. Now what? Change wrap settings, of course. Did that work?
