creating an index (Question 1)

Post by urs7000 » 02 Jun 2020, 13:31

Hello,
I wrote a book the 8 chapters (qxp-files) and create a book (qxb).

Now I tried to make a simple index at the end of the book. I marked all words, I like to have in my index and I create the index. But I like to put some marked words only as one entry.

I.E.: the word "car" is on page 5, 7 and 8. the word "cars" (plural) is on page 4, 7, 9 and 11.
I got the index:
car .... 5, 7, 8
cars ... 4, 7, 9, 11

But I want to have only
car .... 4, 5, 7, 8, 11
by putting "car" and "cars" in one entry.

Can it be done in QXP or is it only possible by editing by my self?

Thanks for reading,
J

I think you'll find the answer in the Help stuff.

Thanks for your answer. I have learned that I can select the word 'car' in 'cars' as an entry. But this is only possible as a one-time entry.
Nevertheless it would be nice if you could enter an alternative term in the index. In German words change due to the grammatical cases. Currently it is a lot of manual work and nothing should change in the book.
