Helvetica Bold shows up as Courier in pdf

Post by apolonio » 25 Apr 2022, 13:22

I seem to have issues when exporting to pdf. Most of the time, all text that is Helvetica Bold will appear as Courier. My quick fix for this is to quit out of Quark and activate it again, and then I will create the same pdf where Helvetica Bold will show up correctly. Is there a reason why this is happening all the time? I use Suitcase Fusion v 22.0.4 on a MacBook Pro with OS 12.3.1.

Not sure if this was a true solution, but restarting my Macbook Pro seemed to have helped. PDFs have been printing fine from first attempt.

Hi Apolonio,
I was using Suitcase Fusion too, but after an interview with Quark's assistance, in an attempt to solve a similar problem and a stability problem of XPress 2022, they advised me not to use Suitcase anymore as it no longer guarantees the necessary compatibility with XPress. Once uninstalled the problem was solved.

Hi Sergio. Thanks for the reply. What do you use now to manage your fonts? Do you use Apple Font Book? Kinda bummed since when my department moved forward to upgrading our computers, we updated our Suitcase Fusion too since were told that software was best for graphic design layout applications. We used Suitcase in conjunction with Quark 5, 6, 8, and 10.

Hi Apolonio, I've always used Suitcase too and it has always been the best but now I use Apple Font Book. For some years Extensis has begun to abandon support for Quark XPress, starting with the plug-in for auto-activation of fonts. On the Extensis support page the latest supported version is XPress 2017.
